Winter Vacation

Under the Sun

Sri Lanka is the ideal place to spend the winter. Temperatures at the beach resorts rarely drop below 28'C and don't go much above 31'C either. Those who prefer cooler climes can travel to the hill capitol Kandy or to 'little England' Nuwara Eliya. The temperatures are between 10'C - 1'C during the cold season. On very cold days, frost can be seen in the forests around the city.

The only activity that Sri Lanka cannot offer is skiing. But we make up for it by offering a lot of sunbathing, golden beaches, swimming, diving, trekking and mountaineering.

All of Colombo's hotel's switch to party mode in December but in the smaller cities life goes on at a relaxed pace. Being a small country it's quite easy to have a night of wild parting one night and spend the next by the fireside in a wild life sanctuary.

These days the whole country is gearing for christmas. Though only a small percentage of the population is catholic, everyone joins the celebrations. All the shops have the sale signs up, and the decorative lights on.
All this for a fraction of the cost of spending the winter in Europe or North America.
