Many the resources availabe on the internet can be accessed using humble
E-mail.
It's possible to Archie, FTP and read news using their respective mail servers, even without full internet access.
Sometimes FTP mail is prefferable to the real thing, specialy with higly clogged servers and ISPs.
Any devotee of FTP will appreciate Archie mailers, which can drasticaly cut down the time spent online hunting for files.

Another of their features is offer automatic filtering and deletion
of Mailbombs and spam.
So why aren't they as popular as Netaddress and Hotmail?.

I almost never use my windows archie client. Instead I access
archie by mail.
To get a list of commands, send mail to one of the following
archie servers with the command 'help' within the body of the
message.
(archie servers usualy treat the subject line of the email
as part of the body
All archie servers are basicaly the same, so a set of commands used
on one archie server is sure to be compatible with any other.
