Free Web Presence Providers are sometimes known as Free Sites or Free hosts and also by the acronym FWP. They offer free web hosting packages in return for a chance to serve banner ads on your pages.

Except for Hypermart the bigger FWPs do not allow commercial sites. But some FWPs do allow the display of your own banner-ads, and some do not. Yet others tolerate Linkexchange or Smartclicks banners.

If you are looking for free web space the best place to start is your ISP. Your place of work or study might be able to offer you web space as well. Failing that many towns and communities have their own FWP.

Webquarry

Webquarry is not a FWP.
But They do offer a three month trial. Being a satisfied paying customer of Webquarry I can recommend them highly.

Tripod

One of the most popular Web Presence Providers, there are thousands of home pages on Tripod, most of them were obtained free of charge. Even though tripod started an unpopular practice of serving advertisments on a new browser window, it has not had a noticable impact on the number of members.

Geocities

Another longtime favourite, pages are catagorized, and there are hundreds of thousands of them.

Prohosting

This fast growing site offers 10MB of free space, CGI and many more features not found on other free web presence providers armoury

Anglefire

Another heavyweight. They too have a large number of members and operate on the same lines as geocities and tripod.

Hypermart

Hypermart offers free webpages exclusively for businesses. Another hypermart feature is they offer free hosting for domain names as well.
