CWC sues it's self again and loses.
July 18, 2008
Once upon a long ago, Thondaman, the leader of the Ceylong Workers Congress pretended to a gentlemen in politics. Now he is trying to win the post of the 'Clown Prince' which fell vacant after the deminse of the former president's brother.
The CWC is one of the pillars of this government, if not for the votes of the CWC the government would struggle to control a majority in parliament and it would have to be dissolved. Yet inspite of being a minister in the government, he is quick to take it to courts - efectively suing himself.
This is not the first time that the CWC has chosen to sue itself. In December it went to courts against the governments attempt at ethnic cleansing. This time the suit is against the discriminatory harrasment of tamils during a recent search operation.
If Thonda doesn't like the way tamils are being harrassed, all he needs to do is to withdraw his support to the government. At the last budget he even voted for the ministry of defence allocations. Instead of doing that he is taking them to courts so that he can go back to the electorate and say he is fighting for their rights. But what he is really doing is enjoying the perks of being a minister.
