Mahinda became president thanks to the LTTE. He continues to be president thanks to Ranil. People of this country certainly deserve to have mahinda as the president but to have Ranil as the opposition is a punishment that is far too severe.

Ranil thinks he can send this government packing by asking people to hoot their horns at 12 noon. He probably read somewhere about the 'algerie francais' car horn protest campaign. That protest didn't go too well, Algeria is no longer a part of france.

There is plenty of noise and horn blowing in Colombo that it would be darn hard to tell if people were hooting their horns in protest. There certainly wasn't any noticable increase. Ranil's minions also asked the people to actually stop in the middle of the road at 12:00 noon as a mark of protest. Well many people were stationery anyway at the time (stuck in another one of those traffic jams that Colombo is now famous for)
