Famous marathon runner, K.A Karunaratne has been killed by a bomb that went off at Weliweriya. It occured when a marathon was about to be flagged off and the national athletic coach is also said to be amongst the dead.

That is really unfortunate. We never hear the so called 'international community' condemning such killings of innocent civilians. On the other hand, a couple of years ago even the former head of the UN was moved to condemn the killing of an LTTE big gun.

The LTTE has been silent for a weeks after the wave of bombings in the early weeks of this year. They have not restarted their bombing campaign and no doubt they have timed it to coincide with the Hindu / Sinhala new year in order to cause the maximum damage.

Oh and by the way, Mnister Jayaraj Foul Mouth Fernandopulle has also died in the explosion.
