Bad year for politicians.

February 27, 2008

The year got off to a bad start when UNP member of parliament Maheshwaran was killed on new years day at a Kovil. As the year progressed things got worse. Hundreds of ordinary citizens have since died from bombings and shootings. But at least politicians are not having it any easier for a change.

After the death of the Anamaduwa version of Mervin Silva was killed by a bomb. That was followed by the death of Sripathi under very suspicious circumstances. Suspicious because the police were screaming accidental death.

Now Tyronne Appu has kicked the bucket supposedly from natural causes. But this is Sri Lanka when a politician dies it pays to be weary and to take government press releases with a pinch of salt.
