Anoter bomb another farce

February 24, 2008

Yet another bomb has gone off and like clockwork the government has put up barricades all over Colombo and they are carrying out search operations. Sometimes you wonder if the iron barricades have more intelligence than the defense secretary and the policemen manning them.

How often has it been said "you will not detect any bombs by just looking at ID cards"? But they are doing it yet again. It was even reported that the recent bomb in Dambulla might have been planted by a Sinhala women. So why is it that only people with Tamil names on their ID cards are singled out for special treatment?

It would not be a great suprise if even yesterday's bomb had been planted by a Sinhala person. Fortunately no one died in it. Thanks to some vigilant passenger noticing an unattended piece of baggage.

In typical Sri Lankan style, they are now bickering over a yet to be announced sum of reward. Two passengers are in fact claiming that they saw it first.
