A ban on sports
February 12, 2008
Schools reopened yesterday after being closed for a week. The reason for the closure? the government that proudly claims to have liberated the east has lost the south and the west. It was deemed to dangerous to keep schools open during the 'independence week'.
While schools were closed the idiots announced a complete ban on school sport activities and other functions. One of the 100+ idiots who call themselves ministers of this government happens to be the former captain of the Sri Lankan cricket team. Like almost everyone else in parliament he has no shame. How else can he be party to this?
A little later the government backed out of the total ban and relaxed it somewhat. They said sports meets and other school events can continue but public should not be allowed to participate. There's no play without players but spectators are equally important. Sports without spectators is like non alcoholic beer.
