Sri Lanka It's Happening

Yesterday was the first day of school for my daughter at Bishop's College. We are very fortunate to have found such a good school for her.

First day was exciting not just for my daughter but for me and my wife as well. We were both worried how she would handle it, but things went well thanks to the warm welcome the children recieved. They had organized an event with second graders performing a few songs and a ballet on stage. Then the children were introduced to the teachers one by one and blessed by the school chaplain. Then each one of them were given a gift - a new scool bag. The kids just loved it.

After the welcome ceremony everyone was served traditional milk rice and tea, after which it was time to accompany the children to the classrooms. They didn't have to spend any time there though. Classes start only on Wednesday.
