The blood letting get's worse.

January 16, 2008

The year got off to a bad start when parliamentarian Maheshwaran was killed on january 1st. Then there were three explosions in Colombo. The word on the street is that two of them were plants they did no harm. The third one didn't do much damage either (almost forgot, a minister was killed but there are hundreds of them).

Now we here of a bomb going off in remote Buttala bringing death to 23 villagers and injuring more than 60 others.

With the Sri Lanka Monitoring Mission out of the way the LTTE and the government no doubt feel it's time to take off the gloves. Well their presence wasn't much of a deterrent anyway. The LTTE violated the ceasefire thousands of times and carried out terror attacks on Civilian targets while the so called international community remained silent. They were quick to reprimand the government for pulling out of the ceasefire but it remains to be seen if they will be equally quick to reprimand the LTTE.

Don't hold your breath, the UN chief famously sympathized with the LTTE when one of the leading thugs were killed off a few years. Last week one of the governments leading goons were killed off but there was nothing from the UN.
