A nick name for former president Chandrika's brother Anura is Clown Prince. He certainly loves to play the fool and it's not all acting, but there is a person more worthy of the title of clown prince (or perhaps just clown) in the Sri Lankan parliament.

That worthy, happens to be Minister Thondaman. First he sues the government (of which he is a key minister), then he votes for the ministry of defence budgetary allocations. The reason for his suite is the illegal arrest of tamils at checkpoints of progress and search operations a fortnight ago. That of course is the doings of the ministry of defence.

On basis of that suite alone, Thonda should be awarded the title of Clown Prince, but by voting for the appropriation bill (the budget) on Friday, Thonda is virtually saying that no one should dare question is title. In fact the vote for the budget is proof enough that Thonda is just a clown
