The LTTE planes come calling

October 22, 2007

Six months ago the LTTE airforce attacked Colombo. That was news but hardly anyone was talking about it at the time. The cricket world cup final (which many couldn't watch because of the enforced blackout) was what was on everyone's mind.

The LTTE airforce as flown once again and this time they have dropped bombs on Anuradhapura. That was said to have happened before dawn. Yet there is no official announcement of casualty figures from the government. Many people tried to visit the LTTE website Tamilnet. But the government has forced the ISPs to block it so you cannot view it's content (but there are ways to overcome that)

The news sites say 7 have died and two helicopters have been damaged. But you can bet your llast worthless rupee that people will not be talking about it. There is a huge controversy about the inclusion (or exclusion) of the Marvan Atapattu into the national cricket team. That's what people are talking about.
