Best places to buy books

September 30, 2007

The best places to buy books in Sri Lanka seem to be antique dealers! No I am not kidding, if you drop into any antique shop you are likely to see a bunch of books lying around. Usually the prices are ridiculous.

When the book is written by one of the popular authors of today, the price is atrociously high. If the book is really old (a real antique) the price would again be high. But if you happen to run into a book from a popular author of yesteryear, the price would be ridiculously low.

So it was no suprise to find an antique dealer running a stall at the Colombo International Book fair. In fact they had a stall last year too. That stall in my opinion was the best one at the fair. I visited them twice and bought more than a dozen books, just like last year.
