Much has been said about how the Victoria Park (Vihara Maha Devi Park) in Colombo has fallen into neglect at decay. This is the largest of the parks in Colombo and the only one that can be visited easily thanks to parking restrictions.

The park consists of a Children's play area with swings, see-saws and even a miniature train. The train stopped running years ago. The swings , see-saws and things that you climbe on are badly rusted and not safe enough for children play on.

Thanks to many letters to the editor appearing on several newspapers the Colombo Municipal council has decided to take some action. They have painted everything. even the broken off see saws. What can you expect when a Three Wheeler driver is the Mayor of Colombo and many council seats are occupied by thugs?
