Ethnic Cleansing and Apologies
June 11, 2007
The government (the prime minister in fact) has tendered an apology about ethnic cleansing. They admit that it was wrong and promise not to do it again. But the damage has been done. It might have been worse if the supreme court had not stepped in and called a halt to this despicable act.
It should have been the defense secretary (the real president) or his brother the rubber stamp president who should have apologized. Since they are both gutless wonders (remember the "it's not my blood comment") it was the prime minister who didn't even have any involvement in the process who had to eat humble pie. Then again, it's not so strange after all, there's more a hundred morons in parliament willing to eat humble pie by the barrel just so they can be a minister.
It's no secret that Tamils are not found of this government, heck Sinhala people are not fond of it either. But that does not mean those Tamils support the LTTE. They hate it equally if not more. Many of the persons who were forcibly driven out of Colombo are people who fled the north and east to escape from the clutches of the LTTE. Many of them are waiting for their visas to migrate, it must be tough to be sandwiched between a heartless LTTE and an equally atrocious government. Now the government is actively pushing them onto the LTTE's lap.
