Time to reprimand the Pope.
April 23, 2007
Rajapaksa brothers limited, the company that owns this country is riding rough shod all over it's people. Many are simply disappearing never to be seen again. Many say it's the police who are behind it.
Journalists who speak out against these abductions and other human rights abuses have been threatened, intimidated and arrested. Some of them have been abducted too. Foreign diplomats apalled by this turn of events spoke out against it and the government was swift to reprimand them. Anyone who speaks on this issue again will be declared persona non grata and kicked out of the country.
Then some foreign ministers fo other countries stepped in and were promptly told to mind their own business. Then the president met the pope. The pope wasn't too impressed by the government's (Rajapaksa brothers ltd.) record. Indeed the pope wasn't too impressed by the abduction and killing of a catholic priest in Jaffna either but wasn't shallow enough to bring particular attention to that issue.
The goverment of Sinhala buddhist extremists haven't the guts to speak out against the pope but the statement put out by the goverment clearly shows that they are not impressed by the Vatican's statement.
