Sri Lanka It's Happening

The cricket match between England and Sri Lanka the other day was without doubt the best match of the 2007 cricket world cup so far. It's the first game with a last ball finish. It bettered the match between Sri Lanka and South Africa which was also pretty close. That match was won by south africa by a hair's breadth.

The loss against South Africa was owed largely to the stupidity of the Sri Lankan camp. South Africans are notoriously bad players of spin bowling , specially leg spin bowling. Yet one of the best leg spinners in the world was sitting on the bench while a pace man was bowling.

The match against England was also very nearly lost thanks to very poor batting on the part of the Sri Lankans. Then the bowlers dragged it back but Sri Lanka relaxed the pressure when they should have gone in for the kill. That enabled the Englishmen to regroup but fortunately for the lankans the amazing wicket taking ability of Lasith Malinga and Dilhara Fernando manged to lead the team to the narrowest of victories.
