Time for anti aircraft guns.

March 26, 2007

Thanks to mahinda chintanaya it has become well neight impossible to live in Colombo. Bombs go off with alarming regularity and the government's futile attempts at a cure is worse than the disease.

Their remedy is to have a checkpoint at each street corner. Yet the people who man them have not been trained at bomb detection. All they do is check your ID and harass you if your ID says you are a Tamil. What if you forget to take your ID with you? you can expect to spend 90 days in detention under anti terrorism laws.

Now of course the air force has found an even better way to attack Colombo. That is with arial bombing. The radars and fighter aircrafts in owned by the Sri Lankan air force are obsolete pieces of junk. Sri Lankan government usually pays the price of new equipment for equipment that other countries send to the recycling center. A large chunk of that money then ends up in the personal accounts of ministers.

The government is so keen to fight terrorism that they have arrested a member of parliament for making an official complaint about aircraft purchases to the bribery commission. (He made allegations about a secret deal between the LTTE and the government as well) That will ensure that when the government buys world war vintage anti aircraft guns for millions of dollars none will make a fuss.
