Rubble.
February 28, 2007
It's now a month since we started work on the new house. We have now reached the so called rubble work stage. The foundation is very complicated. Right at the bottom we have large (1m wide) inverted T shaped beams. It will ensure that the settlement of the building is uniform and there will not be cracks.
Above the concrete there is another layer of broken rock. This is known as a rubble foundation. it reaches ground level and extends a few inches above ground level as well. On top of that there is to be another beam. So far so good but the masons had made two mistakes. There are two sections of the T-Beam that will not be built on. They had started off the rubble work by building up that very section.
