Sacrifice today for a better tomorrow, that's how the Daily Mirror has dummed up the president's budget speech on it's front page headline. Funnily enough that's exactly what Ranil said a few years ago, but Mahinda and his cronies , specially the JVP protested about the unbearable cost of living and got together with CBK to throw Ranil out on his ear.

A few years later, we have Mahinda preaching the same line. In fact Mahinda is doing exactly what Ranil might have done if he was in office but without the subtleties and the organizational skills of the UNP. But that's not the tragedy of Sri Lanka. The real tragedy is to have an opposition leader like Ranil.
