Live and Let Die.
September 25, 2006
Having to spend a lot of time in hospital means having a lot of time to read. But reading literary masterpieces in a hospital room is too taxing. So Live and Let Die is the first of the books that I read through.
It's been a long, long time since I read my last Bond, been a long time since I have seen a Bond movie either. I don't really think much of Ian Fleming but this is light reading. It's refreshing to go back in time to an era when spies didn't have email and mobile phones.
Modern day heroes don't smoke, in Live and Let Die bond happily boasts of going through three packs a day. Modern day heroes wouldn't use the word Negro, and they certainly wouldn't set off limpet mines right next to the coral reef.
