Chair from alpha industries.

September 5, 2006

Alpha Industries manufactures Safes. Recently they have branched out into office furniture. It is from them that I bought an executive chair after my old chair collapsed in a heap.

The tag line for the Alpha marketing campaign is 'with furniture this good ...' actually it should be 'with furniture this bad ...'. The chair that they gave me was out of shape even as it left the store, or it went out of shape the moment I sat on it. Either way, I wanted it fix.

The salesman (he calls himself the assistant manager) of the Alpha showroom in Kalubowila where I bought the chair from, promised to call me back within half and hour. He never did. When I called him several hours later, he suggested that I sent a fax to their head office with the complaint and they will address it.

The fax number he gave me was out of order. I searched the web and came up with the number and faxed it across. No reply. At this stage my father intervened. (Their company is also a client of alpha) and they promised to deliver a replacement. They never did send it but they did replace it after I sent it to their showroom.

They had made the driver sign something written in English (he cannot read English), it probably said recieved in good order or something to that effect. Well the chair certainly isn't in good shape. It's titlting to one side just like the old one. The difference is only in the angle of tilt.
