It will not be the 525tds either.
August 19, 2006
Having decided not to go for the BMW 520i, I have now decided not to go for the 525tds either.
All my friends and family urging me not to go for a diesel certainly did play a part. The deciding vote however was cast by a friend who is in the motor spare parts business. I explained my dilemma to him and he said not to go for the diesel. The fact that you don't find many horror stories about the 525tds on the web, he says is because there are that many e39s diesels from 1998 on the roads now.
Asia is only a small market for BMW, in US they don't go for diesels and even in England not that many diesels were sold in comparision to the petrols. I was told that in germany the diesel BMWs are popular but they rarely use them for this long.
So, I have decided to take his advise and refrain from buying the 525tds, instead I will lower my sights and settle on an E36 318. That's what I wanted to buy in the first place.
