Turn back the clock.
June 19, 2006
A few weeks ago, the clock was turned back by half an hour for no apparent reason. The grapewine said Mahinda's astrologer had asked him to do it because the current lock is in-auspicious for him. It doesn't make any sense but nothing that mahinda has done over the past 6 months makes any sense.
Mahinda is the one person who should not believe the words of astrologers, they all predicted that he would lose the election but he didn't. It's supposed to be ad the suggestion of astrologers that Mahinda is tearing up the historical presidential palace.
Getting back to the clock, the lame excuse put forward by the government for turning back the clock was that it's still dark when children left for schools in the morning. Having turned back the clock it makes it harder for most people to get home before dark. Mahinda has a solution for that. Open offices half an hour earlier. Since most children go to school with their parents that means school opening hours have to be advanced too. Children are again having to leave home in the wee hours of the morning before the sun rise.
