Bangkok Palace.

April 7, 2006

Friday the 23rd we arrived at the Bangkok Palace. Well it really isn't a palace, it's a hotel. I don't use a wristwatch and I left my phone at home so I am not sure of the exact time but it must have been somewhere between 9:00 and 10:00 in the morning. That's when the trouble began.

Our booking is valid only from 12:00 noon and they didn't have the three rooms that we needed. So we waiting. Waiting at the palace is not easy the lobby area is hardly bigger than a sitting room in a house and that wasn't big enough. There were about a dozen desks scattered about any some other guests had commandeered some of them and we followed suite and we waited. While we waited I had a really horrible pork pie at the coffee shop.

Just before 11:00 clock one of my father's friends came to visit us and seeing that we had not been shown our rooms yet, she spoke to the receptionist and rooms materialized as if by magic with in minutes. Unfortunately she couldn't make porters out of thin air and I had to speak to the bell captain twice before a porter could be summoned. He recieved an intentionally low tip. Then it was time to catch fourty winks.
