The Religious Right

November 2, 2005

The religious right is usually wrong. We all know that. That is unless you happen to be a blind follower of some religious faith.

Fortunately some of those blind followers may finally get a chance to realize how wrong they are. One of the yellow robed MPs (well his robe isn't exactly yellow) has thrown in his lot with Ranil's presidential campaign.

The other monks who threw in their lot with Mahinda Rajapakshe long long ago, are now distancing themselves from their fellow monk claiming he is independent monk and not really one of them.

The Mahinda camp has aquired the identity of racism, and religous extremism, thanks largely to the presence of the hard line JVP and the monks in the alliance. Their appologists argue that Mahinda is not extremist, if you believe their arguments you will have to believe the similiar arguments of the LTTE that they are not extremists either.

A monk joining the Ranil camp is a big boost to his campaign since it questions the credibility out of the outragous claims of the other monks.
