Online jokes trading II
September 29, 2005
The other day, I wrote about the online share trading software that is really more suited for trading online jokes. Here is more.
In order to activate the account, the IT manager at the brokers office sent the username and password in the clear text (A mistake many IT managers make). Of course the email contained clear instructions to change the password.
I would gladly change the password but the password change dialog refuses to accept my current password. The very same password that is used to login to the system is rejected when entered in the 'old password' box of the password changer. What happens now? The entire software stops responding and has to be killed.
Now today, the software informs me that a new version is available, when clicking on the update button it goes into one of those trademark endless waits only to say the update failed and to try again later at the end.
The end result of the botched update is that the system now refuses to accept orders! Try to place an order exactly as was done before and it would complain about an invalid security code. I have seen school simulator projects better than this.
