Late is the hour....

The president's term ends in December. And just after the announcement of the supreme court decision has been made the president heads off to China. This can only mean one thing. Coal Power.

The move to be build Coal Power plant at norochcholai stinks to high heaven even before a single ton of coal has been burnt. This being a project of the Ceylon Electricity board, you can rest assured that one ton is all the power plant burn before melting down.

Her government accused the employees of the CEB and the CPC of being thugs and rogues. That was before bowing down before them when they threatened strike action. The finance minister says the CEB is one of the most corrupt organizations in the country. Truth is only a small share of the kickbacks will be shared among the CEB staff.

While the president is in China, her brother (The man who thinks the prime minister is stupid, but backs the PMs candidature for the next election anyway) is off to India. The first brother is without doubt Sri Lanka's number one globe trotter. Wouldn't you do the same if the man on the street paid all your hotels bills and tickets?

It's not clear why he is in India. Probably to play the part of the court jester. The Indian government for it's part has Sri Lanka over a barrel, thanks to the antics of the president and her one time coalition partner the JVP.
