No Fuel for cops

May 21, 2005

39 Members of Parliament belong to the JVP - a former terrorist organization. 22 belong to the Tamil National Alliance, a pro LTTE organization according to some, an LTTE organization according to the sinhala extremists. 12 Members are extremist buddhist monks. As the president reminded everyone in Kandy, it was such a monk who killed a father, a former prime minister.

Of other members of parliament, another 50% at least have very serious allegations of bribery and corruption against them (these are never investigated). Another 50% at least have been accused of election malpractices. Another 50% have been accused of thuggery, intimidation and even murder. Suprisingly (yes suprisingly) a minister's wife was recently convicted of murder.

It is thus no suprise that the government has decided to reduce the fuel supplies for the police force by 25%. But it's not hard to understand their reasoning.

All that the brutes who call themselvs policemen do is hide behind trees and hoardings pointing speed detectors at motorists (all other traffic offences are ignored). The fuel that they are supplied with is used to take the cops' children to school, wifes shopping and dogs to the vet.

So the government as righly decided that the fuel allowance should be cut.
