Open Season on Air Conditioners
April 13, 2005
The other day when returning from kandy the AC in my car stopped working close to Peradeniya. It wasn't completely unexcepted in the three plus years that I have owned this car the AC had failed three times before. The AC, shutters and fuel pump in this 16 year old e30s are notorius.
I drove the car as it is intended to be driven and managed to keep a cool breeze in my hair all the way to colombo inspite of the April heat. On my return I found that the April heat had claimed the Airconditioner of my father's car as well.
The next day my sister and her husband drove down from Great Western, first comment after getting off the car is that the AC had failed not far from Colombo. Since april is also the big holiday season it's well nigh impossible to find a repairman.
April is one of the warmest months of the year, but evening showers usually cool things off. This year the showers have not failed but the days seem warmer than in past years. Global warming really is taking hold. Even in the best of days its very difficult to drive around colombo with out airconditioning, in april it's a hellish experience.
While we were mulling these matters over there is a call from my wife's brother. He want's to know where he can get his AC fixed.
