The opposition supports draconian measures
February 11, 2005
Emergency regulations which were imposed about a month ago is about to be reintroduced. The main opposition UNP spokesman appeared on television today and claimed some of the regulationsa re draconian (his own words). Yet they will not vote against the regulations when it comes up for debate in parliament today.
That reaction is typical of the lilly livered, weak kneed and spineless united national party. Today we have a dictatorship by the minority not because the party that has the most number of seats in parliament is strong, but because the opposition is a pathetic excuse for an opposition.
As the leader of the sunday leader put it some time ago. People deserve the government they get but no one deserves this opposition.
