Kinross Beach Colombo.

February 5, 2005

The beach that is popular known as the kinross beach in wellawatte in colombo usually becomes jam packed on saturday afternoon - unless the south east monsoon is in full swing. At least that's the way it has always been - until december 26, 2004.

I am an irregular visitor to this beach, even though there are beaches less than 3km from where I live, they are not as safe as or clean as the one at wellawatte. This is happened to be my first visit to this particular beach since the tsunami and I was suprised at how the beach was free of crowds. People are apparently scared of the sea.

Though the west coast was largely uneffected by the waves, it certainly did have some effect. The rusty wreck that has been stuck on the reef for long as anyone can remember seems to have shifted slightly.

The photo that is above (click for bigger image) was taken a few months ago, on this occaision I didn't have a camera with me, but on my next visit I defnitely will.
