What does the JVP think of Norway now?
January 4, 2005
The war mongering JVP (a formet terrorist organization, now one of the partners in the goverment) has been carrying out protest campaigns against Norway's involvement in the peace process. For nearly three years they have been insisting that Norway should be removed from the role of faciliator.
Many countries rushed to aid Sri Lanka in the after math of the boxing day tsunami that hit the south and east coasts. Norway was among the first. In fact norway has made the biggest monetary contribution.
Though other countries have pledged more $$ than norway, the per capita contribution from norway is the highest according to a report on CNN. Obviously this figure does not involve the private contributions or the efforts of the people who are involved in the relief efforts. Among wealthy nations the per capita contributions of the US is near the bottom.
The JVP for it's part or any of the other political parties for that matter have not done anything at all to help the victims. In many places people have accused the government and the LTTE of obstructing the efforts of individuals and organizations involved in the campaign.
