Tsunami - Met Department Kills Thousands.

December 26, 2004

The south and east coasts of the country were hit by a tidal wave earlier today. Television stations have been broadcasting heart rendering scenes all day. Sadly thousands of people have lost their lives and nearly a million people are said to be homeless.

The met department cannot be blamed for the lose of property, but they certainly can be blamed for the tragic loss of lives. The epicenter of the earthquake was thousands of kilometers away from sri lanka, close to indonesia. The pressure build up took several hours to hit Sri Lanka's coastline.

Since every home is equipped with a TV and people were most likely to be at home because of the holidays 2 hours is more than enough time to evacaute the coastal belt. The met deparment didn't even raise a wimper.

How will these weather focaster sleep at night from now on? they will sleep more soundly than ever. It's hard to find a person with a concience in government departments.
