That's right eight men said to be members of the Karuna faction of the LTTE have been killed at a safe house outside Colombo while the police have been sleeping.

Apprently the news of the killing had been announced on the tamilnet website quite a few hours before the police had shown up at the scene of the crime.

The police have been swift to act thereafter - at least against the local editor of the tamil net website his house has already been searched. We have not heard about any attempts yet to arrest the actual killers. The killer or killers are said to be members of the LTTE wanni faction and as such the police are powerless to capture them - for once they have a good excuse.

What's really alarming is that the LTTE claims these Karuna faction members were killed at a safe house that belongs to Sri Lankan military intelligence. These gurellias had earlier been arrested while hiding at a buddhist temple of all places. The LTTE alleges that it was military intelligence operatives that who bailed out the terrorists!
