Sri Lankan policemen don't know how to carry out an investigation - that's what the police chief was quated as having said in the sunday leader of last week. This week's edition is more alarming - it would seem that the police have attempted to frame no lesser person than the chief justice!!

The truth about the competence of the Sri Lanka police would have been woefully apparent to anyone who saw them trampling all over evidence in the aftermath of the bomb explosion at the kollupitiya police station in Colombo.

Despite the inefficiency of the police force the courts still have a back log how does that happen? easy when a small time criminal is arrested he is beaten mercilessly untill he confesses to a crime he never committed - or people get framed.

People dying in police custody is very common.
