"Will the cease fire hold?" You are behind the times. That is a question no longer worth asking. More suitable is to ask "When will the war break out again?" or perhaps "Who will strike first?" or better still "Where will the next bomb go off?"

The gradual slide towards war began when the president took over the ministries of defence and interior. (According to the president the country's security situation was in a precarius state and she was forced into this move because of it). Unfortunately things went from bad to worse since then. Only to be made worse still since the UPFA came to power in the april 2nd elections.

The LTTE appears to be fed up with the duplicity of the UPFA. And the UPFA is clearly only paying lip service to the peace process. Indeed they only became a pro peace organization when the monks hijacked their political platform.

There's more quick money to be made in war than in peace.
