The Wedding
June 12, 2004
While in school and university I made up every excuse to avoid weddings. If you are invited to a wedding, especially that of a close friend or relative, there's no 'but' you have to go. Yet until the year in which I graduated I made it a point to avoid weddings. What the point of dressing up, sitting in a crowded and noisy hall or restraunt to meet the same people you meet everyday?
Four years on, I have finally realised their use, the hell with the couple, the weddings are about reunions. Since leaving the university I haven't had many opportunities to swap tales with many of my batchmates except for the 'inner circle'
I do get a chance to meet a few of them when I attend the odd wedding or home coming, since colombo is such a small place there is a good chance that you will bump into some at least one friend unexpectedly at thse functions.
