Priest Asaulted in Parliament
June 9, 2004
Two monks have been man handled, the speaker has been verbally abused, the mace hidden away, it's all in a days work for the thugs masquerading as members of parliament from the UPFA.
If that's not enough at a press conference the government spokesmen denied that thuggery was used inside the parliament. It might have been believable if we hadn't already seen on TV what took place while the parliament was in session.
To put it rather crudely, according what was aired on the TV channels today, one of the monks had been given 'a good kick in the balls' and two of them had to spend the night in hospital.
An undeniable fact is that the monks should not have contested the elections at all. We have enough of devisions in this country as it is. The last thing we need is an ayatollah in yellow robes. Having said that enough people thought that ought to be in parliament for nine of them to be elected. Once they are inside the parliament they are MPs and by man-handling them, the UPFA has reiterated once again that they don't give damn about democracy.
