Tiruchelvam, Murali and Racism
June 7, 2004
The other day, there was an article in the papers published by Nirgunan Tiruchelvam. It had been reproduced from an Indian Journal. The story is ostensibly about Murali but it's really about racism. Not the kind of racism that I have been raging against. This time it's tamil extremism.
The author attempts to make out that Murali is lucky to be alive. Everyone in Sri Lanka is lucky to be alive if you count the number of people who have died in bomb blasts set off by the LTTE in the past or the fighting in the north and east.
Though Nirgunan mentions his own grand uncle, he doesn't mention his father in this article. His father a highly prominent tamil moderate wasn't very lucky. He was killed in a bomb set off by the LTTE.
