Off to Great Western

April 30, 2004

It's sweating buckets in Colombo. April is usually one of the hottest months but you normally get a little bit of rain in the evening to cool things off. Not so this year, it's been very dry. Thankfully I am heading off to Great Western in a little while.

Sri Lanka produces some of the finest tea in the world and the Great Western estate near Nuwara Eliya produces some of the finest Ceylon tea. So it can be argued that the Great Western produces the best tea in the world.

It is a beautifull place nestled in the middle of one of the highest mountain ranges in Sri Lanka. Though it may not be as high as the Hortan Plains or Adams Peak (both of which can be seen from my window) it's still the highest for miles around.
