Sri Lanka It's Happening

Today is the first day of the second school term. Schools were closed for about three weeks to coincide with the big holiday season in Sri Lanka. During the past week colombo was virtually deserted wtih everyone going off to their villages or to places like Nuwara Eliya to enjoy their break.

The people who stayed in Colombo flocked to the beaches, despite Colombo being located in on the west coast there are only one of two places with sandy beaches, the rest has been washed away, polluted or in some cases there's no access road!

Last evening the beaches were packed like flies, but things will return to normal from today - though many school boys playing traunt will make a beeline to their favourite beach for a quick dip.
