When you have an uneasy truce the best way to deal with ceasefire violations may be to ignore them. That is certainly what the UNP government when they were in power. During this time the UPFA went to town saying that the UNP was standing by while the LTTE was slowly but surely taking over the entire east coast.

Just after the new government was elected to office war broke out between the eastern and northern tigers. According to news reports the northern tiger used the land and sea controlled by the government to move their troops to the east, which is a violation of the ceasefire.

Now the UPFA has discovered that the policy which they were so critical of may in fact be the best policy after all.....
What's amusing is that everyone else is keeping mum.
