The UNP, Gobbels and Arithmatic
June 22, 2004
Some time ago I wrote about how poor the UPFA is at simple arithmatic. Apparently the UNP is no better. They have still not noticed that (22/3) * 2 = 14.67 and not 14 as claimed by the UPFA advertisments and they (the UNP) haven't noticed that they can scractch up a majority in parliament.
Under the UPFA's gobbelsian policy of repeating lies often enough so people start believing them. The advert about their two thirds majority was aired on tv often enough (perhaps by now the UNP believes it too). Now the number one theme on the state media mafia is that the monks were never assaulted (our eyes were decieving us when we saw the scrum in palliament).
The UNP , who must now take on the role of safe guarding democracy in this country, apparently doesn't care two hoots. It's the minor political parties that have mobilised the joint opposition to demonstrate that the government MPs are still out numbered in parliament.
Unfortunately sooner or later one of the smaller parties will fall prey to the government's attempt to secure a majority by hook or by crook. The fate of democracy in this country could be decided by a few million rupees.
