Not so long ago Hashan Thilakaratne was a very good batsmen, around ten years ago he was probably the best batsmen in the team - in terms of batting average.

Every sportsman has a sell by date. Unfortunately for Sri Lankan thilakaratne was well past his when he took over as captain of the side. In the last 5 matches he has scored less than 200 runs - far less than what chaminda vass and upul chandana has scored and those guys are bowlers. You will then say he must be a very good captain. The sad truth is he only managed 1 win and lost 2 during of the last five the other two were drawn. The win came against England one of the weakest teams.
