Five power failures in size days. The Ceylon Electricity Board has proven once again that it is one of the most ineffective of Sri Lankan government institutions. However it has proven very effective in destroying Sri Lanka's natural beauty.
Trees that dare to approach withing 5 feet of power lines are ruthlessly cut down. The ancient generators at the kelani tissa power plant spew out thousands of tons of poisons gases each year. If that's not enough the St Clair's and devon falls are being threatened by a power supply project that no one wants.
If that's not bad enough the government has been consistently pushing two set up two coal fired power plants. That's right you heard me the first time coal.
