Cricket and Elections II
February 29, 2004
Sri Lankan leaders are inefficient both in cricket and in politics. In the cricket field it is amply proved by the teams performance in today's cricket match.
At the time of writing the game is not over yet but halfway through the match Sri Lanka had the chance to go for the kill to get australia out for a total of under 150. So what did the captain do? sat back and relaxed while the window of opportunity closed itself.
This is exactly what sri lankan presidents and prime ministers have been doing for the last 50 years sitting sill while the world races on. Sri Lankan Cricket commentators are rarely critical of the Captain of the team similarly political commentator lack the spine to be openly critical of the politians. The Sunday Leader is the sole exception.
