Break all the traffic laws but don't drive fast

March 1, 2004

Want to drive reall slow on the fast lane? want to park where ever and when ever you please, even next to a no parking sign? want to reverse on to the main road? drive at night with out lights or drive with 6 sets of head lamps? then visit

Sri Lanka for your next vacaction. You can break nearly every rule in the book because the traffic cops don't seem to care. But whatever you do don't drive beyond 55 km/h. In many parts of the country the speed limit is 72 km/h per hour (that's right 72 km/h not 172km/h) but again the traffic cops don't seem to care and as a result you can get copped for driving at 56 in 72 zone it's probably the only time you will ever be copped while driving in this country.

It's recommended that you have a driving license but it's not mandatory as long as you don't go over 56km/h cause you will never have to produce it.
