Hats off to the deputy mayor
March 2, 2004
In Sri Lanka politians never see anything wrong with what they or their party does. Using the old adage that attack is the best form of defense, accusations of bribery and corruptions are usually met with even wilder counter accusations.
In this climate it refreshing to see the couragous actions of the deputy mayor of Colombo in a televised interview today he claimed both major political parties were responsible for putting up elections posters and polluting the city with polythene decorations. Under the election laws you cannot post political posters on the wall.
